  1. Great book. I had a very poor to nonexistent background in chemistry and algebra but just got an A in General College Chemistry. I partially credit this book. Reading this book really helped me get more out of lectures. It’s relatively easy to read and very helpful. It weaves in engaging topics such as real-world applications of the concepts we’re learning. I also found it very interesting to learn about how early scientists developed and tested their theories. I have difficulty with reading comprehension and this book is one of the easiest-to-understand textbooks I’ve ever had.

  2. This is the ultimate freshman level chemistry textbook.
Arrived early (I contacted them, said I needed it early, and I received!)
The challenge problems are good practice.
–This won’t prepare you for advanced analytical chemistry problems that were on one of my exams……..

I will never forget this textbook.

  3. Bought this for a chemistry class in college, and it was useful for explaining concepts that my teacher passed over. Lasted for both Chem I and II. Would recommend.

  4. This book is amazing and it is very easy to follow and understand, and it is very interesting. Highly recommend it.

  5. This book is a good deal, and a great text, but it doesn’t have the problems in the back of each chapter. This makes it really hard to do homework because you have to well, guess I suppose at what is assigned.

  6. This is one of those profs whom I call a Master scam artist. Comes out with a new version almost every year and gets his colleagues to force kids to buy the latest version instead of using cheaper used copies of this basic 12th grade syllabus in colleges. The book is so badly written that kids can barely solve any of the problems in it. They then have to shell out another $100 to purchase the solutions book. Why can’t the solutions to a few problems be included that you don’t need an answer sheet. Why can’t the solutions be part of OWL ?

  7. Great textbook. Exact book as required for class. Explains chem concepts in a very clear fashion. Lots of graphs and tables.

  8. It’s Chemistry, not much more to say. Great layout. The graphics especially really tell the whole story. Just wish Chem was easier.
